Homemade Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) ground beef
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Salt and pepper to taste
4 slices provolone cheese
4 hamburger buns, toasted
Directions:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Add the green bell pepper, onion, and garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and cornstarch. Pour over the beef and vegetable mixture. Stir well to combine.
Bring to a simmer and cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom halves of the toasted buns. Top each with a slice of provolone cheese. Place under the broiler for a minute or two, just until the cheese melts.
Cover with the top halves of the buns and serve immediately.
