 Recipe: Fresh Apple Cake

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 large eggs

1 cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups diced apples (peeled and cored)

1 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans), optional

For the glaze (optional):

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.

In a separate bowl, beat eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well blended.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Fold in diced apples and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the cake is baking, prepare the optional glaze. In a saucepan, melt unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in packed brown sugar and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the baking dish for 10 minutes.

If using the glaze, poke holes in the warm cake using a fork or toothpick. Pour the warm glaze evenly over the cake.

Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing and serving.
