Mississippi Mud Pie
Decadent Chocolate Indulgence
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
For the Fudge Layer:
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the Marshmallow Layer:
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
For the Whipped Cream Topping:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)
Directions:
Crust:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish.
2. In a bowl, combine chocolate cookie crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie dish.
3. Bake for 10 minutes. Allow the crust to cool completely.
Fudge Layer:
1. In a saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter over low heat, stirring until smooth.
2. Remove from heat and whisk in sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, flour, and salt until well combined.
3. Pour the fudge mixture over the cooled crust.
4. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the fudge layer is set. Allow it to cool completely.
Marshmallow Layer:
1. Preheat the broiler.
2. Sprinkle mini marshmallows over the cooled fudge layer.
3. Place the pie under the broiler for 1-2 minutes or until the marshmallows are golden brown. Watch closely to avoid burning.
Whipped Cream Topping:
1. In a bowl, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
2. Spread the whipped cream over the marshmallow layer.
3. Optionally, garnish with chocolate shavings.
Chill the Mississippi Mud Pie for at least 2 hours before serving.
